The Kitchen provides packed food cooked in a hygienic environment to all admitted patients, according to the diet sheets received from the wards. On 8 November 2019, that department shifted to a new kitchen area in the basement.
The new kitchen is very spacious, well-lit, ventilated and equipped with new modern cooking equipment namely the Bulk cookers, Friers, Cooking chula, Chapati plate and puffers. Big sized refrigerators, dough kneading machine, vegetable cutting machine, Idli steamer, Dosa plate, gravy machine, multipurpose Stainless steel tables, racks, Sink units, washing tables, food trolleys and a Cold Room. These equipment have made the daily kitchen work very efficient and easy. The new kitchen has sufficient space for working, staff movement and storage and safekeeping of food items. The shifting in the new kitchen improved the preparation, cooking and packing of food.
The Dietary department participated in health camps organized at employers’ premises and dietary advice was given to all the employees. The nutritional educational counseling and therapeutic advice was also given to patients referred by the hospital OPDs.
During the ESIC fortnight, public lectures were given to the insured patients and beneficiaries.
At the Health exhibition, the dietary department displayed colorful charts and posters and food samples to educate the IPs and the beneficiaries.
